Today I decided to get my early yarn cravings out in one go, and used the gift certificate that John gave me for Christmas. I bought some great Jo Sharp tweed in a burgundy, and Nature Spun worsted in oatmeal and brown heathers. I really want another pair of house socks (nice and thick – we have wood floors and poor insulation), and I think I’m going to stripe them up as well, with alternating heels and toes.
Today was a busy one. I picked Mom up from work around 11:30 and took her out to lunch. Then I had a few errands to run, mainly getting things to send off in the second package to my Sock It To Me Pal. But I did manage to stop by the Bath and Body Works sale and get some yummy samples for me (Moonlight Path is my favorite!)
And I finally have a ‘shawl in action’ shot! My Mom really loves her shawl, and I’m still so proud of it! Back shot (and I’m sure she loves me plastering her butt on the Internet. She’ll get me back eventually.)
Tonight Emy came over and I helped her perfect her knitting technique. She wasn’t knitting right at all (not as in English or Continental – but I had no idea what she was doing), and her tension was non existent. But after just a while with her watching me and then trying herself, she was doing so well!!!! I mean, seriously, I don’t think she really needed much of my help, because she caught on so quickly. I’m so proud of my Emy! I’m telling you … I will infect all of my close non-knitting friends with the yarn bug, I assure you!
Oh, I LOVE your mom’s shawl! And you can’t *REALLY* see her bottom… Congrats! The shawl is really beautiful.
The shawl is beautiful and Mom shouldn’t worry about having her butt all over the Internets, unless it is bare….
Hooray for new yarn and for your Mom loving the shawl you made her! And she looks just fine 🙂
Your mom’s shawl is really beautiful!
Great job on Mom’s Shawl!
I had to help a friend’s daughter with her technique a couple weeks ago – same situation… but in the end it was all good, and another knitter was born.
Hope you have been well!
