Happy Turkey Day!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!  I hope that you all have a great dinner today, whether it be with family, friends, co-workers, or just with your pets.  I have to work tonight, but John is bringing me some left overs from his dinner with his folks.

So, this is not only a day to stuff ourselves full of good food, watch football, and rest happily in a food coma . . . it’s a day to give thanks!

I am so very thankful for :

  • My husband.  He’s the best thing that has ever happened to me.  He’s my best friend, my partner in crime, my rock, and my lover.  He makes me happy, keeps me laughing, and makes really great beer.  What’s not to love?
  • My family.  I have two amazing parents, two wonderful in-laws, and many wonderful aunts, uncles, and cousins.  They are ever supportive and their love is unconditional.
  • My friends.  These are people who have seen me at my best and my worst, who have helped me find myself, and taught me new and wonderful things.
  • My cats.  Not only are they furry and warm, but they are just so wonderful.  It’s great to watch them together, and when they curl up with you … priceless.
  • The ability to go to work, do my job and do it well, and make my patients fell safe, comfortable, and maybe heal a little better.
  • My online/blog/Ravelry friends.  They have been supportive, kind, and full of wonderful knitting ideas that fill my head every day.
  • Having my laptop back – fixed!  The down side is I lost EVERYTHING that was on it, and like a dumb butt, I didn’t back anything up on disk.  But on the up side – it’s like having a new computer.

That’s just the short list.  There are so many blessings in my life and so many things to be thankful for.

Have a great holiday, and if you’re going out for Black Friday – be smart, be safe, and get some really great deals!

A Little Luck

Wish me luck, everyone!  I go back to Occ Health today and with all good hope … they will release me and I can go back to my regular assignment!  I really impressed the Physical Therapist yesterday with how much I could do.

And, in a total surprise to me, light duty went very well yesterday.  I filled up waters and helped feed a couple people, and then spent about 4 hours cleaning, clipping, and buffing nails.  All the ladies (and a couple of the gentlemen as well) we really happy to have it done!  It was also nice to just sit and talk to some of the residents that I don’t see anymore (because I work at night and on a different unit then when I started.)

Oh – we’re reaching the final countdown for the all of the Civil War sewing.  With 17 days left to go, Mom and I still have the dress, half cape, and reticule to finish.  It’s crunch time now!  Mom said that she’s willing to work on the cape since she doesn’t really need me there to fit it, but the dress is the major thing to work on right now.  The reticule (small purse) won’t take very much time.  In fact, I could just knit up a small bag.  I picked up my basket today, so that I can take some knitting with me (no fancy projects; probably just plain black socks because it’s period, and it’s easy.)  I also need to trim out my bonnet, but that’s something I can do while watching an evening of TV.  OH – and I have to get a hair piece.  Probably a braid, because my hair is still too short for the time period.

And I was thinking about something that I see sometimes on Lisa’s blog. Tuesday Temptations!  Here are a few of my ‘temptations.

I would love to have a Low Brim Bonnet (6th one down.)  This is a great example of a bonnet when it’s all trimmed out.  Mine won’t be nearly as fancy, but maybe one day …!

Whether it’s another stimulus check from the government, or part of my tax return, I’ve got to buy a tent.  I’m looking at the one at the very bottom, but the one that fits one adult.

Finally, I have to tell you that I want to knit this, and this, and that – if I can re-size it to my measurements.

Have a great day!

Manic Monday

I’m up at 4:30 AM with caffeine and nicotine, ready to go on Light Duty.

Lord give me strength.

Manic Monday #143

Do you ever talk to yourself out loud? What do you talk about?

Usually when I’m at work and I’m busy, I say out loud what I still have to get done.  Or when I’m knitting, and counting.  Or just on a normal basis. LOL  I answer myself too!

What stresses you out?

Well, if you read my last post … enough said.  But in general, work stresses me out.  I’m glad I work with people on nights who have the same sick sense of humor that I do, or I’d never make it through.

What are your secret talents?

I’ve been told I’m a pretty good cook by most of my friends.  If I cook something they don’t think they’ll like, they try it … and most of the time love it.  I also have a sexual talent that a few guys, mostly past and one present, rave about … but hey – this isn’t that kind of show.  At least not this early. 🙂

Crashed

Well, as if hurting my back and having to endure Light Duty at work wasn’t bad enough …. I turned on my laptop this morning and got that ‘Blue Screen of Death’.  Yeah … I’m still pretty pissed off.  John is handy with computers, so he worked with it, but to no outcome.  So, he’s taking it to a repair shop near his work, the same place that he bought his laptop.  John trusts them, so it’s all good with me.  I just hope they can save it.

In the meantime, I’m using John’s laptop.  So, I can get email, access Bloglines and Ravelry, etc.

I tell you …. when things are bad for me, they really suck.  I was working on my sweater yesterday, and I had about an inch and I realized my stitches came off my needle.  I was like, whoa – wait a minute.  Turns out my Denise cord broke in half.  I’m going to get an Addi Turbo this week.

So, I’m in a shitty mood today.  John went over to his folks’ without me, because I was afraid I’d say something stupid.  You know … one of those moods where someone says something, you take it the wrong way … insert foot in mouth.  Yeah – and I didn’t want to risk that on her birthday.  I’ve been dealing with my mental health long enough to know when I shouldn’t be around people if I can avoid it.

So, I started a new pair of socks, and I have two Star Trek movies that I rented from the library, as well as a bottle of wine in the fridge.  I just wish my bad luck would get better soon!
