Manic Monday

I am SO tired!!!  Work was crazy busy this weekend.  But I am going to bed …. lots to do later today!

Manic Monday #180

Are you usually late, early or right on time?

I am ALWAYS early.  This stems from, while in band in high school, the motto was always, “To be early is to be on time.  To be on time is to be late.  To be late is to be left (behind.)”

What would be harder for you, to tell someone you love them or to tell them that you do not love them back?

To tell them that I don’t love them back.  I am always torn when someone is so enthralled with a person, and that person doesn’t care for them in return.

Which would you rather have: a high salary or job satisfaction?

Job satisfaction, hands down.  How anyone can be happy with a crappy job but high salary is beyond me.  Money isn’t everything.

FO Friday

I’ve been on a real hat kick as of late!  Not only is it a great way to de-stash, it’s what I like to call ‘instant gratification’ knitting!!  But more importantly, the hats I’m making are for charity.  As of today, we have 20 hats for Warm Up Winchester!!!!

  • Project : Hat #3 – Warm Up Winchester – 2009
  • Pattern : Raglan Hat by Jennifer Fluery
  • Yarn : Brigantia (100% from England)

This was a very easy hat pattern – and a great pattern for either men or women.  I added another inch or two to the ribbing so as to be able to fold it.

So, what else am I working on … almost too much! LOL

I still need to block my Civil War shawl, but really need to do so on the bed, so I need to rig the door to the spare bedroom where Cooley can’t get into it.  The August Re-do socks are almost finished (just the foot and toe), and I started a very pretty cowl tonight ( I ripped out the scarf that I had going with the Manos del Uruguay Silk, because let’s be honest – I am NEVER gonna finish it.)  I’ve got to get to work on the last two pairs of socks I’m making for Wilma, and then do some more Christmas knitting.  I can surely say that I am glad I’ve been doing a little at a time this year!

Friday Fill-In #139

It’s Friday!!!  Today is a day to be lazy and knit … after I clean the living room and dining room.

Friday Fill-Ins #139

1. He was a a tall blond vampire who I only got to see on Sundays (*tee hee*).

2. The weather starting to cool off and summer giving was to autumn is what I look forward to most this time of year.

3. My best friend lives an ocean away.

4. Most of the time I try to drown out the world, to be honest with you.

5. Appearances can be appalling and deceiving.

6. The last person I gave a hug to was my cat (does that count?)

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to having dinner with Tory and Brandon, tomorrow my plans include work and Sunday, I want to try to finish my August socks and work!

Keep ‘Em Coming!

Last night was an extremily dull and long night at work, but I was able to whip this hat up for Warm Up Winchester.

BTW – I took this photo on John at 0630 today … so he looks a little grumpy – he’s just not awake yet.

  • Project : Warm Up Winchester 2009 – Hat #2
  • Pattern : Seaman’s Cap by Brenda Zuk
  • Yarn : Cascade 220 Superwash

This was quick, easy, and simple to knit.  It really fits John well, so I know it will fit an average male size head.

One more for the charity pile!!!

I just finished up my first hat for Warm Up Winchester 2009!!!!  I am so happy with how this turned out, that I think I’m going to have to make another one for myself later this autumn!!!

  • Project : Hat #1 – Warm Up Winchester (2009)
  • Pattern: Fake Isle Hat by Amy King
  • Yarns : Knit Picks Wool of the Anders (in coal) and Ella Rae Jaspe Wool

I love the colors of the Jaspe.  I swapped Maria (who I met at WOOL) for two balls of it, knowing that it wasn’t a color that I usually knit with, and wanted something new to try.  I also worked this hat on size 9 needles; the pattern calls for a size 6.  I had worked this pattern a couple of years ago and it was so tight in gauge, with the mix of using two different yarns for the color work.  Before I casted-on for this hat, I didn’t do a gauge swatch (I like to live dangerously!), and hoped for the best, remembering my prior experience.  All in all … I am extremely pleased!

Manic Monday

John had a great birthday weekend.  I am quite assured that he got everything he wanted (as far as gifts go.)  Two birthday meals and two cakes … I know my hubby has been spoiled!

Manic Monday #179

What is the first thing you notice about people?

I always notice the way they carry and present themselves.  You can always tell so much about someone through their body language.

What song always makes you happy when you hear it?

What fashion trend do you just not get?

Grunge.  What is so attractive about baggy jeans and flannel shirts.  That being said, I did dress like that for a while in 8th grade. 🙂

Today my hubby is 28!  Two years closer to being officially old, but another year with a wonderful man that I don’t mind growing old with!!!

So, later today I’ll be cooking and baking for him, and spoiling him as much as I can.  He totally deserves it!
