This year I am jumping on the bandwagon and competing in the Ravelympics! What’s that, you say? Well, on Ravelry, a website for people who knit and crochet, it is a competition a self-will. Knitting along with the Winter Olympics in Vancouver, those participating will cast-on for their competition during the opening ceremonies. Yes, they do hand out ‘medals’, but the challenge is more of a personal one.
So, what events will I try my hand at this year?
- Lace Luge – having to do with lace patterns and/or lace weight yarn. I’ve had some beautiful red Skacel Merino Lace sitting in my stash for a long time, just ready to be knit up. I’ve also been looking at the Fountain Pen Shawl, and I think the two will finally come together. The real question is this; can I knit and block this shawl in TWO WEEKS?
- Hat Half-pipe – all things hats (obviously.) I’m going to use this as a chance to not only de-stash, but to make some hats for Warm Up Winchester.
So, are any of my fellow knitters in blogland participating? I know that most of the gals in the local knitting group are. I’d love to hear about what challenges everyone is taking on.
