The weather is starting to cool, and my favorite season is just now approaching! I love this time of year, when Summer gives way to Autumn; Summer still pushes her waves of heat to pronounce one last breath of being, while Autumn brings her cool hand across the plains and welcomes chill and harvest. I’m feeling rather poetic today, I must say!
Today I was a bad girl; I went to the yarn store. We don’t have a lot of extra cash right now, this I know, so I used a little of the money I’ve been saving for my wheel.
Feeling very in the mood for fall colors, I picked up a skein of Manos del Uruguay in “Prairie”. I love the harvest colors, and I think I may make a cowl for myself with that. There is also two skeins of Noro Cash Iroha in purple, which I had to get because I love that yarn AND it was 30% off. Finally, something new; Zitron Noblesse. This is a merino/silk blend and I thought the green was gorgeous.
I have also been a busy monkey when it comes to knitting! Two projects finished this week, and now I’m wondering what to knit next.
- Project: August Socks
- Pattern: Broad Spiral Ribbing by Charlene Schurch
- Made for : TOP SECRET aka Christmas Knitting
- Yarn : Hazel Knits Artisan Sock
The picture doesn’t do the pattern justice; the mini spiral rib is really beautiful and expands when worn. I know that the recipient will love these come Christmas time!
- Project : Late Summer Cowl
- Pattern : Forest Canopy Cowl by Susan Lawrence
- Made for: TOP SECRET (although not for long!)
- Yarn : Manos del Uruguay Silk Blend
I know that there are some shadows in the picture; please pardon me. I thought that the pattern was showing well despite the setting sun. This pattern was amazing, and I think I’m going to make another one with the Manos that I just bought. I love this pattern and wow …. this could easily become a frequent favorite!
Tonight I’m off to Spin Night, where I watch everyone and continue to observe their spinning habits. I long for the day that I have a wheel of my own to bring along!!
