You know, it’s nice to just be appreciated for what you do, whether that is a job or a hobby. It’s just nice to hear that you do a good job every once in a while.
Last week at work was horrible. I’ve been stressed and irritable, but when I was filling out my report paper last night before I started my shift, I got such a nice pick me up. A lady walked up to me, and looking at my badge, said, “Oh, so you’re Amy! Mom talks about you all the time, and says you’re one of the best aides that they have here.” I have to tell you, that totally made my day. It’s so nice for a family member to compliment you, as well as the patients, because really – we get more BS than thank yous.
Later that night, while I was in a blissful state of working on garter stitch, one of the nurses, Wilma, asked me if she could place her Christmas order this soon. I was like, what are you talking about? Well, she wants me to make her three pairs of socks for Christmas; for her daughter, daughter in law, and mother. Now, I don’t like to charge for my knitting, but three pairs of socks …. that’s a bit involved, so I am going to charge. The deal was sold at $20/pair – not too shabby I think. But just the fact that Wilma thinks so highly of my knitting to ask me to make these socks … I was so touched. And the only request she had was size and color … I get to choose the pattern!
So my three days off have started on a good note. LOST is on tonight, and I think I’m going to start working on my April Month socks.
