Be amazed … John and I actually got out of the house and did something today! We are so inclined to stay in most weekends, mainly because we both just want to veg out. But today, we woke up early (8am is early for us on the weekend,) and headed out to the Route 11 Yard Sale Crawl. Apparently this happens every year, but I just heard about it. Go figure. We started at Woodstock and walked around for a couple hours, admiring many beautiful antiques and other much loved items. After lunch at the Spring House Tavern, we headed down Rt. 11 to Strasburg. We stopped at one large yard sale outside of Toms Brook, and there was a man selling hand-made bird houses. We’ve been wanting to do things to attract more birds to our backyard, so this is the one we came away with.
We’re going to get a pole later this month and get John’s Dad to help us put it up. It’s already weather treated, so I don’t have to worry about that. I can’t wait to see what little birds we’ll get as neighbors!
Continuing on the journey, next we stopped at the Strasburg Emporium. All indoors, it’s part flea market/part antique store/part cafe. It’s huge and houses so many amazing antiques. I saw quite a few pieces that, if I had the money, would come home with me for sure. After browsing around we headed to the cafe, where there is a wine and micro-beer merchant. Beer Garden, anyone?
That’s what we came home with; 10 different micro brews of all shapes and tastes. I can’t wait to try them out tonight! I’ll post later on about which ones we liked the best!
When we came home, there was a package waiting for me!!! It’s my 5th (yes, you heard me right) Secret Pal package. I know who she is, and have known for awhile (but she knows too. We figured out we were spoiling each other a while back. My packages keep taking so long to get to her. I just don’t think it’s normal for a package to take almost three weeks to get to Canada.) So, thank you so very much, Lillian!!!!
So, that’s been my weekend so far. Not too shabby, if I say so myself. John is off to the market to get steaks for grilling, for dinner tonight. Tomorrow, we’re going to try to go to church, and then have an early dinner over at John’s parents’ house.
