I’ve been working hard on a few baby sweaters for afghans For Afghans this month. They are having a Mothers’ Day drive in May. Well, I found out tonight that they are not taking sweaters for this campaign. Once again, I’m the last to know. I’m hoping that they will take them anyway, and if not, I’ll hang on to them until the next campaign.
So here’s #1. I know that it’s plain, but it’s a wool/alpaca blend, so it will be warm, which is the point in an Afghan winter.
- Pattern : Five Fruits (MagKnits)
- Yarn : Nashua Handknits Creative Focus Worsted
For the second one, I’m trying one of the seamless sweaters from Elizabeth Zimmerman’s Knitting Without Tears. I’ve made the body and the sleeves, and need to join at the yoke. We’ll see how that goes.
So … what’s been going on with me? Well, there is news on the whole quit smoking front. It didn’t work. The first week of the Chantix was great. I was cutting back and feeling better. Then when I started the blue pill (next step up), I started having some insomnia and mood swings. At first it wasn’t bad, but then there was that day that I was awake for 28 hours straight. Yeah … no shit. I was also more cranky than normal even though I was taking my regular meds. So, being awake that long … I can’t work like that, let alone function on a normal basis. So I quit taking the pill and I feel so much better. I also found out today from my Dad that Chantix is showing really harsh side effects in people with a history of suicide and/or depression. Go figure. I am a little disappointed and a little upset with myself, but what can you do. I really think that, at the point, the only thing that will really get me to quit is if I get pregnant. And that’s not in the plans for at least 3 more years.
On to better news. We’re still hoping to close by the end of the month on the townhouse. We’ve been doing everything that we are supposed to do, but the seller (the bank that own the property I should say) is dragging behind. They are hard to get a hold of and so our plans of closing Wednesday are pretty much out the window. We’ll close, I know, so I’m not worried about that. But it was made very clear to them that we have to close around my days off so that painting, etc can be done, and they were fine with that. If by some miracle the bank calls tomorrow and wants to close Wednesday or Thursday, then we can really get moving along. If not, it’s looking to be the first of April.
That’s pretty much what’s new with me. I slept almost all day, but Daylights Savings Time always messes me over in the worst way. Full sun at 6am … grrr! But I’m looking forward to next week because one of the LYSs here, Never Enough Yarn, is having a knitting night next Tuesday. It’s been ages since I went to one, because of my schedule. And I just listed a bunch of stuff up on my Ravelry Trade/Sell page, if anyone is interested. Just some things I don’t see using in the near future, and wanted to post to see if anyone else was interested.
Have a great week!
