Now that I have mostly overcome my knitting mishap with the chocolate, we can get back on track!  First, thanks to my SP12 spoiler, for sending me a copy of Romantic Hand Knits!  There are several patterns that I have my eye on in that book.  Next, I started some test knitting tonight!  Tina, of Phoenix Fiberworks, has asked a few of us to test a sock pattern that she wrote.  So far, so good.  I found a few tiny mistakes, but the pattern is just beautiful!  I should have pictures this week of my progress.

Ah, the Bridal Shower.  It was a ton of fun, and of course I had to endure my share of embarrassment for my Maid of Honor.  Don’t worry … John shared in that too.  So … onto the photos!!!

Emy devised a game for me and John (here comes the embarrassment.)  We had to fill out questions about each other with answers.  If we got them wrong … we had to dress up.  Here’s the end result (sorry, it’s a bit blurry.)

So, after that, we opened gifts!!!!  We received so many wonderful things and I’ll be getting thank you cards out this week.  A new crock pot, hand written recipes, wine, teas, a Fenton bowl, lawn gnomes, and of course … yarn!  It was great!  Now, here are some group shots.

I think I’m gonna turn in early tonight (yeah, on my nights off, 12:30 in the morning is early), but not without doing my Friday Fill In.  By the way … I’m a bit cranky and tired (stomach issues abounding), so that glass is a little half empty this week.

Friday Fill-In # 81

1. If I could be a fly on the wall I would be on the set of filming for Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows Part 1.

2. Jealousy is one of the worst emotions out there.  It can eat you alive.  I was there once, where it engulfed me completely.  I never want to go there again.

3. When I see a shooting star my wish would be that I never have to be put in a nursing home.

4. I’d rather be plain and happy than rich and famous any day!

5. Certain songs when I hear them make me wanna forget certain parts of my past.

6. If time were in a bottle I’d send it back to sea.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to doing something with Karen and Corey for Karen’s 30th Birthday, tomorrow my plans include working and Sunday, I want to stay home with John, but alas, I have to work.!

Yeah … today sucked in the worst way. I didn’t sleep very well, which is never a good thing. So, I was tired and cranky most of the day, but fast forward to after I took my Mom to the doctor …

Melted chocolate + Sock yarn = Amy screaming the worst words at the top of her lungs.

Somehow, a few Hershey Kisses from Sunday found their way into the bottom of my Haiku bag. So, melted chocolate now was embedded into the beautiful Shale Scarf I was working on in NH Knitting Mama’s BFL sock yarn that I had coveted for so long. I mean … the yarn and scarf were totally ruined and I had to *cringe* throw them away. There was no hope in saving either. The only lucky thing is that the inside of my bag cleaned up really easy and I just had to leave it at Mom’s overnight to dry.

But seriously … come the fuck on already!!!! Why did it have to get all over that beautiful ruby colored BFL sock yarn????

So I came home and went back to bed. I woke up several times from a weird dream that I don’t remember, with back pain and a sore knee. John woke me up around 8:30p when he came upstairs to change and he went to get Arbys for the both of us.

Hey folks … I’m having a small destash over on my Ravelry Trade/Sell page.  Just thought I would post a quick note in case anyone was interested.

This weekend was so amazing, and it truly went by too fast!!!!  It was so great to have Tina, Katie, and Steve here to visit and take part in some pre-wedding festivities!!!

Friday night envolved staying up really late to wait for their arrival.  And even though there were a little late getting here, when the arrived … I was like a kid at Christmas!!!!  We enjoyed some hot tea and fresh chocolate chip cookies before crashing for the night.

The next day, I took Tina and Katie to The FiberSmyth in Woodstock, Va.  This shop is dangerous … I can never go there without coming home with some really great yarn!  Her shop is so diverse in it’s selection that you can find a little bit of everything!  Here’s what I came away with (minus some yarn for my Summer Swap Pal’s final package.)

Two skeins of Melody Superwash in a great green/teal color and two skeins of Noro Cash Iroha in a soft pink.  I’d been eyeing that Noro for a while now, and I just had to grab it up.  I’m thinking fingerless mitts, for sure.

Tina also gifted me with a belated birthday present!!!  A skein of the new Noro sock yarn, in purple and black.  I can’t wait to knit it up!!!

Tonight I started ordering the gifts for my Bridesmaids.  Let’s just say that I put a Loopy Ewe order in, enough to get free shipping!  Since all of my gal’s knit, I’m getting some interesting things together!

SP12 Question of the Week #6

What is your favorite type of project to take along on holiday/vacation?

I love to take socks with me, because they are small enough to fit in my knitting bag and I can take them anywhere while on vacation.

Tell us about a time that you packed too much knitting or were stranded without knitting.

I know that when I came home from Rhinebeck last year, I had packed my Jansport backpack to the brim!  I had over $300 worth of yarn crammed as tight as I could get it, to take home on the train back to Virginia.

Wow … this weekend flew by so fast!  Katie, Tina, and Steve are back in New York (boo hiss), and believe me, we already miss them.  This week, I’m going to post about the Bridal Shower with lots of photos.

Tonight, I can finally post some more of the Top Secret Knitting that I’ve been doing.  I made Emy the Moss Stitch Beret (Cascade 220 Heathers in a dark red) for her birthday, and since she was leaving to go back to England today, I gave it to her yesterday.  It fits perfectly!!!

I’ve got to get ready for work now, but I must say … I am so happy with how the beret came out!

Manic Monday #125

What do you do when you are feeling very sad or depressed?

Well, seeing as that I have dealt with having severe depression since I was a teenager, I’ve learned more positive ways to deal with it. Usually, I just go back to bed if I can. I usually wake up feeling much better. If I can’t do that, I find a quite place to yell out as loud as I can.  Oh .. and the meds help.

Who was your first crush?

Adam Tryczynski … second grade. And I continued to have a crush on him until graduating high school. In the second grade, he just moved here from Canada, and he played his cello for the class. I was smitten.

If given a chance to skip work for a day (without repercussions), how would you spend the entire day?

I’d sleep in, eat sushi for lunch, and return home to knit for the remainder of the day.

So, the lady spoiling me has sent yet another package!!! She’s just too kind with her giving, and has sent some wonderful things to me.

I apologize that it’s a little blurry … I had a long busy day and I’m a little shaky. There is a great skein of my favorite - Cascade 220 Heathers in a blue/purple, a susi wallet kit! (something I’ve been eyeing for a while now.), a drink can cozy (great for the silly stupid humid days here!), some soap petals (great for travel), and some handmade buttons!!! I know that I want to make a little boy’s sweater and use those, even though I’m not sure who it would be for. But those buttons are just to cute that I can’t bear to just let them be.

Friday Fill In #80

1. Oh, I can’t wait until I have a a baby.  It’s nothing that is going to happen this coming year, but with all my co-workers having babies, it’s hard not to think about it.

2. The Brita water pitcher is the first thing I see when I open my refrigerator.

3. I never leave home without my IPOD, smokes, lighter, cell phone, and car keys.

4. If I were a condiment, I would be Russian dressing because a Reuben is my favorite sandwich.

5. People who talk on their cell phones while driving is really high up on my list of pet peeves.

6. The last thing I thought of before I went to bed was I have to get up early today for my Dr. appointment, but I really want to sleep.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to the late night arrival of Steve, Tina and Katie, tomorrow my plans include relaxing with my guests and Sunday, I want to go to my Bridal Shower!!!
