:) I'm so proud of you!

Started Chantix just before Christmas, and Quit on the first of the year - I've had a few slips here and there, but for the most part, I'm done. The nicest thing the medicine does is simple: It makes it stop being good, so even when it's the MENTAL longing that gets you to slip up? The smoke's not nearly as great as it was before, and you're like.. and I erased the 2 days with that?!

Beware though, the side effects are rocking me a bit - tummy wise, and the eating with the pill is DEFINITELY advised. Never felt so bad in my life as the times I didn't eat.

Yay for you!

Nice new digs! I hope the smoking quitting works for you this time. I've known quite a few people who have had good experiences with that medication.

You can do it!!!

Best of luck to you on your Smoke Free journey. It wont be easy, but it will be so worth it when you are free from it.

As someone who has never smoked- I can't completely relate to what you will be going through- but I know that its tough (from watching many family members quit & start up & quit). So, my thoughts and positive vibes are being sent your way!

Rock on!! I'm off the heaters for 4+ years now and nuttnhubby is 6 mo. free and clear.

I quit using the miraculous morning sickness/pregnancy method and nuttnhubby (after 34 years of smoking camel straights) used chantix.

Let me know if you need some reward goals from blog friends! :-)

Super proud of you for taking this fantastic step for yourself!!!

I'm so proud of you for making this decision for yourself. I know it's not an easy decision to make. My family struggles with health issues to do weight issues and to have to make the decision at this point in my life to try to be healthier in preparatin for the next stages in life is hard. Habits are hard to change. One thing that might help is if you set some reward goals for yourself, like if you can go X amount of time without smoking you get bla-bla-bla. At my WW group we make bets with each other to push each other on. Or we support each other by saying I'll do x, y, and z for you if you can just get yourself to ----.

I work in a hospital that has Chantix on formulary... Yes, there is some nausea, and some people have nightmares, but it is an amazing drug. You don't quit cold turkey when you go on it. You actually gradually build up your doses, so you naturally lose the craving for the nicotine. They offer a great support program for the drug, too.

Good luck to you, Amy. What a great decision to make for yourself.
